The ethics of professional breathwork involves knowing and embodying the principles of safe and effective practice. This includes an ability to navigate and guide clients in a non-ordinary states of consciousness. Exercises and practice are provided to heighten awareness of one’s own issues and challenges and options for responsibly handling them from an integrative perspective. Confidentiality, boundaries, professional and legal regulations as well as mutuality in growth are all examined.
Course Objectives:
- Articulate the role of professional ethics in society
- Give examples of experiences in four categories of Grof’s non ordinary states in breathwork sessions
- Name challenges involved in dual relationships with clients
- Identify three ways of appropriately handling sexual energy in a session
- Enumerate challenges that non-ordinary states present in ethical breathwork practice
- State the value of a breathworkers support system in maintaining a healthy practice
- Name two outside resources for professional breathworkers
