SmartTemplates is fully compatible with the latest version of Thunderbird (ESR 128). This was released on July 11th, 2024, and will be updated to all users of Thunderbird 115 soon. The new interface is called "Nebula".

The standard license supports the substantial amount of work necessary to stay compatible and fix breakages that flow down from changes to the Application code base. It also enables me to work on new features and maintain the support website.

Annual License

SmartTemplates Standard gives you full unrestricted access to SmartTemplate's standard functionality.

The license is valid for 1 year from date of purchase. It does not renew automatically.

The standard license for SmartTemplates also gives you trial access to its premium features for a year. This means you can use the additional variables described, but they may be restricted and a sliding notification will display at the bottom of the Email Editor. For full access, and to support the Add-on even more and finance development of new features, check out the pro license instead.

Personal License Key bound to Email Address

The license is for your personal use and is tied to your email address. The email address must be defined as primary identity in any of your Thunderbird accounts. The validation of the email runs offline and the address is not stored on any server nor transmitted during use. With this mechanism, you can have additional email addresses, which do not need a separate key. You can install and use it on multiple email clients as long as they also have the primary address.

Updates

SmartTemplates will be automatically updated via addons.thunderbird.net as usual. After the year expires you can renew the license or upgrade to a Pro License.
